So Bridget Jones was wise she was correct that when one area of your life is going really well other areas don't do so well....

It was the Christmas of 2011 and I was 27, alone, with a great job, money, nice friends, loving family, but was totally alone. Being alone felt like a cold, hollow, empty feeling it's hard to imagine you actually have to go through it and feel it yourself. It's strange how it takes over your life, you are almost walking through a separate universe to couples, you feel like an outcast of some kind at first. 

The things you miss
Sitting alone over dinner, not holding hands with anyone, not having anyone to moan at after the hard day in the office, friendship / best friend, and most of all the relationship. 

You have two choices, to embrace being alone or to be defeated and potentially turn into a lonely old cat woman. I love cats but didn't want to turn into one of those bitter man haters. It comes to a point when you have cried enough tears, re-played the years of the relationship to yourself and friends and basically wallowed in it! 

So when you accept the good sides of being alone it starts to turn around your life positively.
Advantages are that you are like your own boss free to do what you want when you want, you see those around you trapped and you feel free, you have time to re-think life, remember who you were and who you want to become and basically nobody to nag you or give you any reason for an argument. 

Friends have experienced adverse affects of loneliness, nesting, dwelling and becoming desperate and settling for less of a man that originally wanting. Having more one night stands and drinking to numb the pain of being alone. Others have embraced life and captured the moment. I remember my dad gave me the best advice out of all my friends. He told me to enjoy the time I'm on my own as you will be with someone soon.

My best advice to men and woman that are alone is to think about how much better your next relationship will be. Take the good things from your previous relationship. Don't lower your standards, be yourself and enjoy life to the full, travel the world and date.

Be excited about the future as everything happens for good.
