Dating Dilemma The Truth About "On-line" "Dating"
Love is all you need, the Beatles said. But these days it helps if you have a computer too.
Online dating is becoming one of the most popular ways to find a partner.
More than nine million Britons are thought to have logged on looking for a perfect match.
They are contributing to a business that last year generated £170million for the UK economy.
We had a great time with our friend last night, he took us to his swanky city apartment with a beautiful city view and sipped nice French red wine. Just to drop in that he is amazing, intelligent, handsome and most of all good fun and single!
He went on to talk about on-line dating being a last resort for people who never met through friends and in "normal" ways. It got me thinking about on-line dating and why after so long it's still not cool, sexy and people are not proud to tell each other they are on-line. Are people secretly hiding that they are on-line?? Has on-line still not reached it's potential? Why are so many people in a similar mindset about it?
What are the Myths about On-line Dating
All people on-line are desperate geeks
Many normal, well educated nice people are on-line as well as the strange weird people, it's a real mix. Nine Million Brits are on-line dating and more new users are coming on every day.
People just go on for one night fun
Many people who go on-line have found serious relationships and marriages
Just going on-line means you will meet the man of your dreams
You need to take time meeting people and will have to meet different people before you meet the man of your dreams. Psychologists from the University of Rochester in the U.S. warned earlier this year that dating websites were making people more judgemental.
Professor Harry Reis said that skimming over hundreds of potential mates can promote a ‘shopping’ mentality, resulting in single people becoming excessively picky.
It's dangerous
If you are careful and meet in public places then you will be fine and it's like meeting a person in a bar, club or in the office, just fast tracks you
